Batman Tales
Cat-Tales is the real story, a series of
Batman Tales by Chris Dee.
Let’s say nearly all you've read in comic books is
wrong. The identities are correct: Bruce Wayne is Batman, Selina Kyle is
Catwoman. They live in Gotham City. There is a Wayne Manor, a Batcave and
Batsignal, etc. But the rest is all exaggeration, distortion, and often the
outright lies of a sensationalist tabloid called The Gotham Post, otherwise
known as DC Comics.
Chris Dee's Batman Tales tell the truth behind that fiction, revealing characters
that are more complex and fully-human than anyone thought possible.
Heart-stopping romance, side-splitting humor, and poignantly understated
tragedy, it’s all here: the man inside the Bat, the woman within the Cat,
the life between the panels, the truth behind the masks.
The Dark Knight Rises opened July 20, 2012, and while we all hoped it
would set the record straight and give us the real Bruce Wayne, the real
Selina Kyle, the hero we deserve in every sense, it only brought more
calumnies from a press like The Gotham Post that refuses to portray these
iconic characters honorably. We saw a Bruce who had no commitment to his mission, who was Batman
for a few years at most and gave it up, and a Selina whose anger, bitterness
and insulting lower class origins missed the point of all the character is
and should be. At least Chris Dee's Cat-Tales remains to set the
record straight giving us a Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle worthy of each other
and worthy of being called Batman and Catwoman.
